Richard Hunt
has sculpted his way into the canons of 20th century modern art history.
The physicality of his chosen medium is consistent with the industrial
mid- west, his chosen home. He forsakes genteel canvases for steel, anvils
and welder’ flames. He “draws in space” with bronze, aluminum, copper and
steel; cutting, hammering, welding, sanding; transforming crude materials
into exquisite sculptures and majestic public art monuments. His
sculptures can be found in the permanent collection of museums throughout
the United States and abroad, including The Art Institute of Chicago, Los
Angeles County Museum, The National Gallery, National Museum of Israel,
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, The Museum of
Twentieth Century, Vienna and The Whitney Museum of American Art. His
artistic genius is only exceeded by his kindness and grace. |
